Oktoberfest Celebration
The end of October signals fall is in full swing, and what better way to celebrate than with an Oktoberfest celebration filled with German food, a trick-or-treat trail and spooky Halloween fun on Bald Head Island?
Oktoberfest weekend gets off to a great start on Friday, October 29 with a Spooky Halloween Reading at Old Baldy at 7 p.m. presented by the Bald Head Island Readers’ Theater. Fun continues on Saturday with the Oktoberfest Celebration at the Harbourside Pavilion from 12-3 p.m.
The Island Agency presents a variety of homes for sale in an island-wide Parade of Homes from 1-4 p.m. At 3 p.m. drive your decorated cart through the Halloween Trick-or-Treat Trail which begins at the Harbourside Pavilion. The fun continues from 4-6 p.m. with Wine and Cheese at The Hammocks Model #54. Later that evening, head over to the Shoals Club for a Halloween Party from 6-9 p.m.

Standup Paddleboard Championship
Coastal Urge has announced their Second Annual Southeast SUP Championship will be held October 23, 2010.
The 27 mile standup paddleboard (otherwise known as SUP) race will start in Wrightsville Beach, proceed down the Intracoastal Waterway and end on Bald Head Island at the Harbourside Pavilion pier.
Race categories include Elite men & women s0l0 and two and three person Relay Teams. Prizes include a $2500 cash purse for the Elite division and $5000 in prizes for Relay Teams.
Registration fees for the race vary by division, but include lunch, cold beverages, commemorative event t-shirt and a one way ticket from Bald Head Island to the Deep Point Ferry Terminal in Southport, NC.
Bald Head Island Limited is a supporting sponsor of this event. Proceeds from the race benefit SUP Cleanup.
Coastal Urge has two locations on Bald Head Island – the retail store at Maritime Way, which sells outdoor apparel and bikes, and the Board Room on Keelson Row, which rents paddleboarding and kiteboarding equipment and offers lessons and tours.
